Google revealed on Wednesday that it will introduce new agentic features in AI Mode, a tool that lets users ask intricate questions and follow up to learn more about a subject right within Search.
In AI Mode, users may now obtain assistance scheduling appointments for wellness and beauty as well as event tickets.
Say, “Find me two cheap tickets for the Shaboozey concert coming up,” for instance. Prefer floor tickets that are standing. AI Mode will then look at several websites to identify current ticket possibilities that satisfy your needs. After that, a carefully selected list of ticket prices will be shown to you. You can complete your purchase by going straight to the booking page through AI Mode.
Google first introduced agentic capabilities to AI Mode back in August, when it began allowing users to use the feature to find restaurant reservations based on multiple preferences, such as party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. For instance, you could ask, “Find me dinner reservations for three people this Friday after 6 pm around Logan Square. Craving ramen or bibimbap.”
AI Mode will look at several reservation systems to determine the current availability of eateries that fit the query. A carefully chosen selection of possibilities will appear then.
Google stated on its Search Labs page that “connecting you with high-quality information you can rely on is our priority in Google Search”. “This new mode is still an early experiment and may make mistakes, but it is based on our core quality and safety systems,” it added.
To compete with well-known services like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search, Google first introduced AI Mode in March. Since then, the tech behemoth has expanded AI Mode’s functionality and made it available in over 180 countries. For example, AI Mode now has access to a Canvas feature, which allows you to create study schedules and arrange data across several sessions in a side panel. Additionally, you can now ask questions about what is on your desktop screen using Google Lens.
