Google Gemini, the popular AI chatbot, is getting a new feature that can turn your document into a visually appealing presentation or generate one from scratch with a text prompt. Available as part of Gemini’s Canvas functionality, the new tool is particularly helpful for those who often find themselves creating presentations from scratch.
The tech giant said that the tool can help professionals transform complex documents and sales briefs into polished pitch decks and can also come in handy to generate a summary presentation for meetings. Students can also use it to make visuals and a structured explanation about topics they find hard or convert essays or notes into well-organised slides.

In a post on X (previously Twitter), Google said users will be able to upload sources of their choice to “create entire decks with images and data visualisation”, which can then be exported to Google Slides for editing and presenting. If you are interested in using Gemini to make a Google Slides presentation, here’s how to do it in a few easy steps.
- Open the web version of Gemin on your PC or mobile and choose Canvas from the toolbar.
- Now, start your prompt with “Create a presentation” based on the topic of your choice.
- Here, you can also upload documents to generate presentations based on them.
- Gemini will now generate slides based on your prompts.
- You can export these AI-generated slides to Google Slides for editing.
Google says the new feature will first roll out to Pro subscribers, but those on the free tier will have to wait a few more weeks.
