DailyObjects Stack review | DailyObjects Stack Phone ecosystem review: Modular phones might still be a dream, but modular accessories are not

We are still maybe years away from a truly modular phone ecosystem, despite all the exploration in that space over the past decade or so. But that does not mean there can’t be accessories that bring in modular elements that let us customise the look of our devices to our mood that day or the clothes we are wearing. The DailyObjects Stack phone ecosystem wants to do just that and be fun in the process.

I have always appreciated good design, especially when it is functional. This means DailyObjects is always a brand I pay attention to. The new collection is no exception. The company experiments with colours, materials, and form factors, while keeping things simple and user-friendly.

Think of Stack as a platform where the company offers grips, wallets, stands, and lanyards. These use a Lego-like stack-and-lock mechanism. For the iPhone 17 Pro Max, I used a dark case. Even better, you can use a simple clip like a stand in place of the colour plate. This one goes inside the holes of the case and pushes the stand out the back — it took me a minute to figure out how this worked. You can even replace the stand with a lanyard if you want to hang your phone from your shoulder.

It is not just about using the Stack strip at the bottom of the case. You can use the MagSafe magnet to stick a wallet stand to the back of your iPhone. Now, this reminds one of a stick-on battery pack, but it is a flip-out case that can hold credit cards or IDs. Once you flip this part out, you can use it like a stand for the phone. Very practical.

However, the case needs to come out if you want to charge the phone wirelessly. Also, I found it a bit tough to pull out cards from inside this all-metal wallet. So, I found a better use for it. It is a great place to carry your visiting cards, something that people like me never have handy when someone asks for it.

With the iPhone 17, I used another case, another colour, and another MagSafe attachment. This time, for a grey cover, I used a green stack, because why should girls have all the fun? And a black MagSafe grip and stand that sticks to the back of the iPhone like an acolyte. I felt the cover was a bit smooth, and the grip let me push my fingers in to hold the phone exactly as I wanted and without adding to the smartphone grooves on my digits. The stand works well if you are on a flight and trying to watch a movie on the food tray.

The cases are priced around Rs 1,499, with the colour plates starting at Rs 799. The grip has a price of Rs 1,499, while the wallet stand costs more at Rs 2,999. The best thing is you can just start with a case and add layers as time goes on. Right now, these are available only for the new iPhones.

It is good to see an Indian company tap the power of good design, making it stylish, fun and functional at the same time.
