Battlefield 6, the latest instalment in the first-person shooter franchise, sold more than seven million copies just three days after launch. Accumulating more than 15 million hours on streaming services, EA said Battlefield 6 recorded the highest number of concurrent players ever for the franchise.
Now, EA has confirmed that Battlefield 6 will soon be getting a new battle royale mode called RedSec. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), EA announced via its official Battlefield handle that RedSec will be available to everyone for free, and players won’t need to purchase the full game to play it.
While not much is known about the gameplay, we will hopefully see a hundred players being dropped in a huge map and battling against one another until the last person or squad. As hinted by the teaser above, we might see four classes of soldiers. Battlefield 6 Redsec will also have environmental destruction along with vehicles, new multiplayer maps, a 4v4 mode and new weapons. Moreover, it is still unclear if and how RedSec – Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode will interface with the main game.
EA has said that RedSec will have the “deadliest” ring in the battle royale genre and that coming in contact with it will instantly kill the player. Ahead of the battle royale mode, the company said it will be tuning various gameplay aspects like time-to-kill in close range, fix environmental bugs, rebalancing vehicles and making changes to the armour plates.
Like Call of Duty: Warzone, Redsec may be launched as a separate game; however, it looks like the battle royale mode won’t be available for pre-download. Battlefield 6 Redsec is set to release in India on October 28 at 8:30 PM, but be prepared for long download times as many players will likely be downloading the game at the same time.
Lately, EA’s shooting games like Titanfall, Star Wars Battlefront and Apex Legends have been losing steam, but with Battlefield 6 Redsec, the game studio might finally have a chance to get back into the race and take on the Call of Duty franchise.
