WhatsApp has rolled out four new features for its Status section, aiming to make the platform more engaging. The Meta-owned messaging app is introducing photo stickers, layouts, the Add Yours feature, and an expanded More with Music option. According to Meta, these updates will reach all users gradually over the coming months.
Here is a list of features that were added to WhatsApp status.
Layout feature
One of the biggest updates is the new Layout option, which allows users to create collages directly within WhatsApp. Using the built-in editor, you can select up to six images and arrange them into a collage, perfect for sharing trip highlights, event memories, or everyday snapshots in a visually appealing way, similar to Instagram.
Music stickers
WhatsApp recently introduced music to Status updates, and now it’s going a step further. With music stickers, users can overlay their favourite song on a selfie or photo, turning a simple image into an engaging audio-visual post.
Photo stickers
The new photo sticker tool lets users turn any image into a customised sticker, with options to crop, resize, and change its shape before adding it to a Status update.
Add Yours
Borrowing from interactive formats on Instagram and Facebook, Add Yours allows users to post a prompt — such as “Best coffee moment” or “Throwback pic” — and invite friends to respond with their own photos or videos.
Meanwhile, in a recent crackdown on large-scale scam networks — many operating out of Southeast Asia and powered by forced labour — WhatsApp removed over 6.8 million accounts linked to fraud centres in the first half of this year alone, often shutting them down before they could fully operate.
