Google’s big hardware showcase, Made by Google, will take place on August 20 in New York. It’s expected to be jam-packed with announcements, one after another, and of course, plenty of new products are on the way: just before Apple takes the stage for its iPhone event in early September.
We already know a lot about the upcoming products, thanks to both leaks and partial reveals from Google itself. In total, six devices are expected to launch: four new Pixel phones, a new Pixel Watch, and new Pixel earphones, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
Google was once a dark horse in the hardware race, trailing behind Apple and Samsung. However, over the past few years, Google hasn’t been shy about its hardware ambitions and is now actively competing with the best including its own OEM partners through its growing Pixel line. What truly sets Pixel devices apart is that Google is the company behind the Android operating system. It’s showing no signs of slowing down, especially when it comes to integrating AI features powered by Gemini into its products. That’s Google’s advantage. On top of that, its premium devices are designed to look and feel premium, showcasing the best of both hardware and software much like how Apple builds its ecosystem.
If Google impresses with the Pixel 10 series, it could boost the Pixel brand and shift the conversation, putting pressure on Apple in both mature markets like the US and emerging markets like India. Google’s ability to localise Gemini, and the extent to which it sweetens the offers, will set the tone for how deeply Pixel phones can penetrate these markets. However, Google still needs to focus on expanding its distribution channels and look beyond e-commerce, especially in a market like India, where it competes with Apple, which has become increasingly aggressive in recent years with affordability strategies and a growing retail footprint.
Here’s everything we are hoping to see at the Made by Google event on August 20.

3 new Pixel smartphones in the mainline Pixel 10 series
It’s certain at this point that Google is preparing updates to its mainline Pixel smartphones, meaning this year’s Pixel 10 lineup will include three models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. However, don’t expect major changes to the upcoming phones. The overall design will likely remain similar to that of the Pixel 9 series.
The displays are also expected to stay the same, with the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro featuring 6.3-inch screens, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL will come with a larger 6.8-inch display. That said, the Pro models may see modest improvements in camera and video quality, as well as increased battery capacity which could allow for faster charging.

And don’t be surprised if the Pixel 10 series supports Qi2 wireless charging. If true, this would make it one of the few Android phones compatible with magnetic accessories such as chargers, wallets, and mounts like Apple’s MagSafe system. Google may be launching a “PixelSnap” phone case with a magnetic ring at the center, as per leaks.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold will compete with the Galaxy Z Fold 7
A new foldable phone is on its way (sorry, Apple fans), and it’s made by Google. The sequel to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has already been confirmed by Google. Now, we are just waiting for the official announcement.
Based on the information available, the phone will feature a larger cover display, measuring around 6.4 inches, alongside an 8-inch main screen. Visually, the device won’t be too different from last year’s model, except for a sleeker profile.
We have also heard that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will receive an IP68 rating. a first for a Google foldable. This means it will offer resistance to both dust and water, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro Fold had no dust protection at all.
Inside, the new Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, just like the other devices in the Pixel 10 series, and will include the latest Gemini AI features. The camera system may also see upgrades, potentially including a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Battery life is also expected to improve.

The Pixel Watch and buds
Beyond the Pixel 10 series, Google will also reveal the next-generation Pixel Watch, featuring a thicker design, a longer battery life, and smaller bezels. Don’t be surprised if the Pixel Watch 4 may get new health and fitness-tracking capabilities, including an upgraded blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring.
There’s a high chance that Google will launch new Pixel Buds 2a, featuring upgrades like active noise cancellation. The Pixel Buds Pro 2, meanwhile, won’t be getting a successor just yet, but will reportedly be released in a new Sterling colour option. Of course, Google Gemini will be baked inside the earbuds.

Improved software and AI
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Google spends a considerable portion of the event hyping up AI and Gemini. Yes, Gemini will be at the center of the Pixel experience, but we’ve reached a point where the existing AI features no longer seem as appealing as they did last year.
There’s a real need for Google to improve the software on Pixel smartphones—especially on the foldable models—and optimise it for larger screens. More importantly, Google needs to clearly show how it’s differentiating Pixel devices from other smartphones through software. If Google plans to unveil exclusive Pixel-only software features, that would be exciting.
