Deva Katta’s ‘Mayasabha’ has quickly carved a niche for itself among Telugu OTT viewers. All thanks to its gripping narrative rooted in Andhra Pradesh’s political history. After a successful first season on Sony LIV, the acclaimed director is now reportedly deep into preparations for Season 2, and the updates are promising a bigger, bolder chapter ahead. Filming progress and release window

According to OTT Play, a significant portion of Season 2 has already been filmed. Deva Katta, known for his cult hits Vennela and Prasthanam, shot several pivotal scenes well in advance. Now, he’s revisiting parts of the script to incorporate feedback from the first season’s success. This includes fine-tuning the drama for an even more engaging sequel. Once revisions are complete, production will resume. The reports say that the makers are planning on launching the season in January 2026 on Sony LIV.

Here’s what is new in season 2

Season 2 will turn the spotlight on the rise of N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) who is the legendary actor-turned-politician, played by Sai Kumar. The storyline will delve into his ascent to the Chief Minister’s chair. The series also delves into the intricate, sometimes tense, relationship with his son-in-law, Chandrababu Naidu. Adding to the intrigue, veteran actor Nasser joins the cast as media mogul Ramoji Rao, hinting at the increased influence of the press in the unfolding drama.

Season 1’s impact and critical praise

The debut season of ‘Mayasabha’ won both audience and critical acclaim for its balanced portrayal of two of Andhra Pradesh’s most influential political figures such as Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, although used in the series with fictionalised names.Aadhi Pinisetty’s performance as Naidu and Chaitanya Rao’s portrayal of YSR earned widespread praise from the viewers. The political drama series explored the strategic moves and personal struggles of its protagonists which is the depiction of actual power play that happens in politics.
