iPhone 17 Pro: From 8K video recording to new design, here’s everything we know so far | Technology News

As September draws near, Apple fans are gearing up for the company’s biggest annual reveal. For many, it’s almost tempting to echo Green Day: “Wake Me Up When September Ends” – as long as the month ends with the launch of the iPhone 17 series smartphones.

Among the phones to be launched, iPhone 17 Pro is, arguably, the most anticipated flagship. Fresh leaks are offering a clearer glimpse of what is to come.

New renders, bold colour options

On July 30, a tipster from Bluesky revealed rendered images of the iPhone 17 with a new camera island. The tipster also disclosed that the Pro series will feature a new colour, bright orange, in addition to the standard white, black, and dark blue options.

While these renders made the rounds online, test units of the iPhone 17 Pro were reportedly spotted in San Francisco, suggesting that Apple may be trialling an additional camera feature.

A third camera control appeared to be positioned near the top edge of the device. If this new feature is a capacitive touch scroll surface, one might hold the iPhone in landscape orientation with the primary Camera Control accessible to the right index finger, and this new feature accessible to the left index finger.

When will the Apple iPhone 17 Pro be released?

The launch event is reportedly set for either Monday, September 8, 2025, or Wednesday, September 10, 2025, according to several sources, including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman

Design and specifications

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro will feature a dynamic island with a front-facing camera and slim bezels on the front. It will have a rectangular camera island with three sensors and a flash that extends from end to end at the back. The Apple logo will be positioned slightly lower on the device to facilitate MagSafe charging.

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will include a triple rear camera setup comprising a 48MP primary lens capable of recording videos in up to 8K, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens. Apple is also said to be offering a 24MP front-facing camera upgrade for video calls and selfies.

It is likely that the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a 6.9-inch XDR OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone will be powered by the Apple A19 Pro chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. Indeed, Apple is increasing the RAM in the Pro models by 4GB. Rumours suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have the largest battery ever in an iPhone, at 5,500mAh, and it will support 15W Qi2 wireless charging and 25W MagSafe.
