Bollywood has seen its share of celebrity feuds, but few have been as long-running and personal as the rift between Aamir Khan and his brother Faissal Khan. From shocking ‘house arrest’ claims to public rebuttals, their decades-long family drama continues to unfold, drawing fresh attention with every new interview.
Early rift over Mela’s failure
In a 2021 chat with Ronak Kotecha on YouTube, Faissal recalled how Aamir blamed his lack of acting skills for Mela’s failure, advising him to consider a different career path instead of pursuing films.Faissal spoke about his 2007–08 legal battle with his family, claiming they spread false rumours about his mental illness. He alleged being kidnapped, kept under house arrest, and given unwanted medication. After the verdict, the court declared him mentally fit and capable of managing his own life.
More claims in 2020
In 2020, Faissal told Bollywood Hungama that his family kept him under house arrest for a year, claiming he had depression and paranoid schizophrenia. He alleged being given forced medication but remained patient, hoping they would realise he was not unwell and stop troubling him without cause. However, Faissal maintains that after a period of observation at a Mumbai hospital, doctors declared him to be of sound mind.
Directorial debut without Aamir’s help
Faissal later made his directorial debut with Faactory in 2021, stressing during its promotions that he neither sought nor received any assistance from Aamir, as he was confident in managing the process on his own.In January 2024, Faissal attended Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare’s wedding reception at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai, where he was spotted posing alongside Aamir’s eldest son, Junaid, on the red carpet.
Fresh allegations in 2025
In a 2025 interview with Pinkvilla, Faissal once again alleged that his family had labelled him as schizophrenic and dangerous to society. He claimed that Aamir kept him confined at home for a year, took away his phone, restricted him from going out, stationed bodyguards outside his room, and administered medication.
Aamir’s family responds
Following the interview, Aamir Khan’s family responded with a public statement expressing disappointment over Faissal’s remarks. They described his account as hurtful and misleading toward his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, sister Nikhat Hegde, and Aamir himself. The family also noted that this was not the first time he had misrepresented past events, stressing their need to clarify their intentions and reaffirm their unity.Faissal Khan made his acting debut in 1988 with a supporting role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Over the years, he appeared in films like Madhosh (1994) and Chinar Daastaan-E-Ishq (2015). His brother, Aamir Khan, was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par.
