Anusha Dandekar has never shied away from being open about her personal life, and her past relationship with Karan Kundrra has often been in the spotlight. In a candid chat, she spoke about going public with her relationships, handling breakups, and navigating the fine line between privacy and publicity.
Handling online chatter about exes
In an interview with Humans Of Bombay, Anusha was asked about her personal life often being very public, including an ex whose new relationship sparked online chatter. Responding to how she deals with it, Anusha said it feels easier once you let go, adding that moving on brings relief and saves you from the noise.
Balancing privacy and publicity
Dandekar also spoke about the fine line between privacy and publicity, saying she doesn’t blame the media entirely. She explained that since she chose to share parts of her life on Instagram, she accepts the attention it brings. She added that when she shared her breakup publicly, it was out of respect for her followers who had been part of her journey.Although Anusha didn’t mention Karan Kundrra by name, her next comment appeared to indirectly reference her past relationship with him.
Their relationship timeline
According to reports, the couple dated for 3–5 years and split in late 2020 or early 2021. The couple had co-hosted the reality show MTV Love School, which Anusha referenced while explaining why her relationship was so public. She added that hosting a show about love meant being open about her own experiences, imperfections, and struggles. While her honesty brought a lot of support, it also attracted significant criticism—sometimes even from women—which she found confusing and surprising.
Anusha’s breakup confirmation
Karan and Anusha reportedly dated from 2016 to 2019 and eventually broke up in late 2020. Anusha had confirmed the split in a detailed Instagram post. It read, ‘So here it is, before the year ends…Yes I did a show called Love School, yes I was your Love Professor, yes everything I shared and the advice I gave has always been real and from my heart… yes I love hard, so hard… yes I don’t leave till there is nothing left for me to try and fight for, yes even I’m human, yes even I lost myself and some of my self-respect, yes I’ve been cheated and lied to... yes I waited for an apology, which never came, yes I learnt I actually had to apologise and forgive myself… And yes, I grew, have grown and will continue to grow from all of it and look at the positive (sic)’. The post is not available on Instagram anymore.
Karan Kundrra on staying silent

Considering both families, he added that he could respond with his side of the story, but chose not to, acknowledging that what she shared reflected her perspective.Karan addressed the cheating allegations, saying he sometimes laughs at the negativity and wonders why someone could be so hateful. He emphasized that they shared a beautiful three-and-a-half-year relationship, expressed respect for Anusha and her family, and questioned why such serious claims arose amid his professional growth, noting no past partners had made similar accusations.
